Gujarat Titans have appointed former Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade as assistant coach for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Wade played two seasons with the Titans in 2022 and 2024, scoring 159 runs in 12 matches. Last year, Wade announced his retirement from international cricket and was not part of the mega auction.

"Champion. Fighter. Now our assistant coach! Welcome to the GT dugout, Matthew Wade!" the Titans wrote, welcoming Wade.

Wade will join the GT coaching staff along with batting coach Parthiv Patel, head coach Ashish Nehra, and assistant coaches Ashish Kapoor and Narendra Negi.

Overall, Wade played 15 matches in the IPL, scoring 183 runs at an average of 13.07. In 2011, the left-handed batsman also played for the Delhi Daredevils, now known as the Capitals, and had to wait 11 years to return to the IPL.

The Titans struggled in the previous edition of the IPL, failing to make it to the playoffs. With only five wins out of 14 matches, the Titans finished seventh on the points table. Their last two matches were also impacted by rain, resulting in no decisions.
